Palanor Indices — the full catalog

Twelve composite indicators — six house, six thesis — each a named instrument with its own methodology page.

Updated 2026-05-17

Palanor Indices are composite signals — Palanor's reading of the world, built on top of the simple-signal lattice. Each index is a named, narrated instrument with a methodology page that shows what it measures, why these components, how it should be read.

Where Indices live

The Indices tab on the Signals page surfaces every Index your organization has access to, ranked by current distance from the baseline — the ones speaking loudest surface first. Each card shows the current reading, a one-word band (Quiet, Normal, Watchful, Pressured, Extreme), and a sparkline. Click any card for the full methodology drill-in.

The catalog

Twelve indices ship today.

The six house indices read the broad economy.

  • Palanor: Consumer Confidence — the American consumer, sentiment and credit stress together.
  • Palanor: Liquidity — the global dollar weather every asset class trades inside of.
  • Palanor: Labor Heat — the labor market's tension.
  • Palanor: Inflation Pulse — pressure against the 2% anchor.
  • Palanor: Risk Appetite — what the market is willing to wear.
  • Palanor: Geopolitical Stress — stress, market-priced.

The six thesis indices read named macro positions Palanor has been writing into.

  • The Palanor Index — the gap between belief and uncertainty across forward-looking instruments. The flagship.
  • Palanor: Capital Tightness — how tight the capital window is for the mid-market operator.
  • Palanor: AI Margin Compression — software margins under pressure as the cost of intelligence falls.
  • Palanor: Energy Transition — the pace at which the energy stack is shifting under the economy.
  • Palanor: Industrial Pulse — the real economy's operating heat.
  • Palanor: Steward Confidence — a meta-composite for long-horizon operators.

Reading an Index

An Index is meant to be read as one sentence. The methodology page gives you the band and the supporting components; the meeting reads as: *"The Palanor Index is at 0.41 — markets believe but are not confident."* That sentence is a deliverable.

Methodology versions

Each Index carries a version number. When the composition changes — a new component, a retuned weight — the version increments. Historic readings and historic scenarios stay anchored to the version they were taken on, so your past work doesn't silently revise.
