- What is BYOLLM and why is it the default?
- Bring your own LLM. On Steward and Council, you connect your own Anthropic API key. Numen calls run through your account — no token markup from Palanor, no surprise bills. Regulated industries (finance, defense, healthcare) require this; everyone else benefits from predictability. Watcher includes a Palanor-managed token bundle if you prefer not to manage keys.
- What's the setup fee actually for?
- Two-week stewardship engagement. We calibrate your business profile, select and customize the right industry + risk schemas, seed your first scenarios, configure signal weights across the lattice, and run two activation sessions for stewards and admins. Real onboarding work, not a fee for paperwork. Waived on annual commitment.
- What's a Researcher and why are they free?
- Researchers contribute signals into the global catalog — applications-gated, identified, bylined. Their work compounds for every steward across the platform. Researcher seats are free; the contribution is the price of admission. See Platform → Three Rings.
- Can a single person be on multiple tiers?
- A user belongs to an org. The org chooses one tier. If you operate a holdco or family office with multiple investing entities, each entity is its own org with its own tier — same user can be a Member on Acme Corp and an Admin on Beta Holdings.
- What happens at year-end / renewal?
- Annual contracts renew on the anniversary. We send a renewal read sixty days out — what you used, what the catalog grew, where Council added value. No surprise auto-renew increases; pricing adjustments require sixty days' notice.
- Can I see Palanor before I sign?
- Yes. Open a free Practitioner account to read the lattice, build a personal Loom Canvas, and walk through public methodology pages. Or request a Steward demo — we walk you through your specific industry and risk surface.
