Energy repriced, stablecoins surged, and Big Tech earnings loom

Three unrelated moves this week — Hormuz-driven oil, Circle's adoption spike, and the AI infrastructure earnings calendar — point to the same question: what happens when the last twelve months of narrative start showing up in cash flow.

Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund held above its two-year high this week as Brent crude printed near $117 per barrel. The Strait of Hormuz stayed effectively closed through late May according to EIA modeling, and what started as a tail risk became the central earnings story for energy names. Saudi Arabia and the UAE have shown resilience by routing exports through alternate infrastructure, according to Tassnief, but the geopolitical premium is no longer priced as temporary. Two signals matter now for XLE through year-end: whether the strait reopens on the EIA timeline, and whether refining margins hold as crude input costs climb.

Circle reported surging USDC adoption and new partnership momentum, with stablecoin market size forecasts reaching $2 trillion. The stablecoin thesis is no longer speculative — it is infrastructure, and Circle is positioning as the clear beneficiary of regulatory clarity and institutional onboarding. Seekingalpha analysts rated the stock a Strong Buy on the back of expanding use cases and distribution. The gap between narrative and adoption has closed.

Earnings from CrowdStrike, Palo Alto Networks, and Broadcom arrive this week, alongside Computex and fresh jobs data. CNBC flagged the Big Tech AI infrastructure story as the through-line: these are the names that spent the last year talking about AI margin expansion, and now the tape gets to see whether capex translated to revenue growth. The market has repriced AI tooling and cybersecurity higher on the assumption that enterprise spending is real. This week tests that assumption.

Three separate moves — energy, stablecoins, Big Tech earnings — with one shared dynamic. The narrative ran first. Now the cash flow has to show up.
